The Environment and Health Research Theme has rescheduled the workshop ‘Publication without pain in the Life and Health Sciences’, which will now run from 14:30 to 16:30 on 10th July 2012, in BSMS room 108/109. The aim of this 2 hour workshop is to help researchers develop a strategy for submitting a paper to a high profile journal.
There will be presentations from:
- Professor Melanie Newport, Brighton and Sussex Medial School, will discuss her experience of getting things through the review process
- Professor Laurence Pearl, School of Life Sciences, will discuss ‘pleasing editors’.
After the presentations, attendees will split into small groups to discuss their publication strategy focusing primarily on the cover letter, the main message and conclusions. For this interactive session, all attendees are asked to bring an example of something they are preparing to submit so that they can maximize their chances of getting into the journal of their choice. The workshop will then close with a feedback session and lessons learnt.
The workshop is primarily aimed at early career researchers but all faculty are welcome. The workshop is limited to 25 places so please email researchthemes@sussex.ac.uk to reserve your place.
